They don't want to be out there and quite frankly, I wouldn't want to be either if I were them.
I'm surprised at the lack of sensitivity or sympathy on here. If I had a close friend who passed away, I would call in sick to work for a week and not want to be bothered. I respect them for going out and doing their job, despite the grim circumstances.

We've been spoiled for quite some time now (although last year wasn't great up until the last few weeks of baseball), so I guess there had to be a downturn somewhere.
Still, I don't think we're going to be like this all season. And for me, as others have said, losing a baseball game is secondary to the death of a teammate. I don't enjoy seeing them play this badly, and I certainly hope for better games in the future, but if this isn't their year, it won't be the end of the world.

They are still only a few games below .500 and only a handful of games out of first place. They have plenty of time to turn this ship around. I imagine they need to get through the next few weeks emotionally, and winning a few games along the way will help them accomplish that. They need someone to step up and show leadership, and they probably need a bit of luck too.
But Rolen, Pujols, Edmonds, and even Eckstein and Kennedy were hitting way below their expectations before the tragedy, and this team will have to do all it can to avoid being in the cellar if they all continue to hit a collective .230. I doubt that will happen, but honestly, apart from Albert, I don't think it's that far out of the realm of possibilities.
