Appalachian State stuns Michigan 34-32

I'm expecting to hear the Michigan governor declare a five day period of mourning and ask that all flags be flown at half staff.

The Wolverine fans I know do (or at least did) not live in a world where it is possible for someone like Appy State to beat Michigan in football.

we watched the whole game. Lot of fun.

Appy State tried to blow it with an idiotic coaching decision, though. It's getting glossed over and not mentioned, but it was boneheaded and allowed Michigan the chance to complete that pass and attempt the field goal. Why on earth do you kick a game winning field goal on 1st down with 30 seconds left? Run a play, spike it, then kick on 3rd down with less than 10 seconds left. Michigan doesn't have a chance to move down the field and attempt a field goal (that probably 80% of the time they'll make) if you don't give them time.

This game made me seriously happy. I despise loathe hate relishinthemisery UofM and it's associated fans/alums.

I wouldn't go THAT far.... but yeah, the Michigan football program annoys the crap out of me.

I won't be one bit surprised to see them still ranked in the top 25 after this debacle.

Personally, I would still rank them in the top 25. They are still one of the best 25 teams in the nation I would be willing to guess, even though they did lose to a relatively weak opponent this weekend. I mean, it's football. I know elite college teams are supposed to win every weekend, but if the Patriots lost to Oakland at home some weekend, would we start assuming they aren't one of the top teams in the NFL this year? No, we'd chalk it up to a bad game and go on.

Michigan still has top-25 talent, and a good coach. They had a bad game. It's still intimidating to have them on your schedule this year.
