I'm pretty pumped about it. That being said, I got a netflix subscription and the streaming movie selection is a little disappointing.

Depending how this goes, and if PS3 won't offer it...I will also pick up an Xbox.

IMO MS is really kicking Sony's butt this gen. It seems like Sony is really behind the 8-ball.

In games, yes...so far...but really 3rd party exclusives are going away. I like the Blu-Ray, gaming, streaming package that the PS3 has...plus the reliability is good. I'm not a fanboy by any means...I have a PS3 and a Wii. I like some of the games on Xbox, but more are being released for PS3 (Bioshock, Oblivion, etc). I like it that I can expand my harddrive and run linux on it if I so choose. Really the only things that the PS3 needs to work on is Netflix, better online gaming support (I'd gladly pay), better web browser.

It's a trade off...if the reliability issues didn't scare me away from Microsoft, I'd have an Xbox right now. I still may pick one up if they've fixed the issues...but to me, the risk isn't worth the reward yet. Not a big Halo or 1st person shooter person...but Gears does intrigue me.

I really think you can't miss with either one...some may say BluRay is dead on arrival, but I like having a backup copy of what I own, and if I choose to rip it, I can. I like HD streaming initiative and think that is the future, but the broadband speeds aren't there yet, and I don't know how high quality their HD is.

Realistically we are getting to an era where everything will be streamed on demand in HD quality, but I have a feeling MS and Sony and Nintendo will mainly be a hub for AT&T/Verizon/Cable companies to push their HD on demand service. Tivo and Netflix will disappear and everything will be on demand.

So really it all comes back to the games, and so far Xbox is winning.

does anybody know if the xbox live works wirelessly on a DSL line? i know i can buy the wireless adapter for the xbox, but was wondering if the DSL line is strong enough to play games on...

Wireless XBL on a DSL connection works fine for me.

I play LIVE on my DSL without any problems.

A little tip on the wireless adapter: I use the wireless adapter I had leftover from the original xbox. You can find that much cheaper than the "360" adapter. My brother, though, couldn't get the old wireless adapter to work with his new router and had to buy the 360 one. May be a security issue or something.

I haven't played a game on my ps3 in 6 months. I'll play one in the next month or so in Resistance 2, but then it'll go back to being my blu ray player only where it gets TONS of work. My 360 gets used almost every day for games. I prefer multiplatform games on my 360 because I like the 360 controller much more than the ps3 one.

I'm addicted to SOCOM again...it isn't as solid as SOCOM 2 on the PS2, but I'm hoping after a few more patches and work it will be up to snuff. They don't even have all the features they provided on the box! But it is still addicting...lol.

I read the rate has dropped significantly and they are pretty good about turning around fixes. Additionally, they released the new "falcon" chip, which should fix the problem.
