I'd let him get comfortable for a while. They moved Rainel Rosario up already, so I'd give Taveras a little time. QC might make the playoffs as well, which is always good experience for the players.
If they did move him though, he'd certainly have earned it.

QC already made the playoffs. They clinched a wild card spot in the 1st half.
I'd like to see Taveras stay here a bit longer as well. He is pretty darn good, but still seems pretty raw.

It's prob not what you think. The first-half and second-half division winners reach the playoffs.

Here's KG today:
Oscar Taveras, OF, Cardinals (Low-A Quad Cities)
Had Taveras not had hamstring issues this year that have limited him to just 39 games, he would have received stronger consideration for the Top 50 as he's been among the most impressive hitters in the Midwest League when healthy. With seven hits over the weekend, including three doubles and a home run, the 19-year-old Dominican is a ridiculous 21-for-39 (.538) over his last ten games to raise his season line to .393/.434/.567. Most of Taveras' value lies in his ultra-fast bat, but he does have gap-to-average power and a solid arm, giving him an everyday corner outfield profile . . . if he could just stay healthy.

Correct. They split the season into halves. First half and second half winners make the playoffs from each division, and then they also do wild cards now. So I think a total of 8 teams make the playoffs now.
It works out pretty well. That way teams don't get penalized for killing in the first half, and then having all their guys called up and then tanking. They at least get rewarded for having that good 1st half.
That's why I enjoyed watching our team so much last year. They were darn good all season, even with a lot of turnover. This year's team is not quite at that same level. Pitching is what is keeping them respectable this year.

If a team wins both the 1st and 2nd half of the season does that mean they get a bye to the next round since there would be 1 less team that qualified for the playoffs? Or in that case do they just do an extra wild card team?

They take an extra wild card team.

Another quirk is that if two teams finish tied, they do not play a 1 game playoff, they have tiebreakers which are listed at the bottom of that page. This came into play a couple years ago. Peoria (specifically, Rhyne Sandberg) was whining because QC made the playoffs on a tiebreaker (overall run differential for the season or some such stat), despite losing the season series with Peoria. I think it caused them to tweak the tiebreaker rules after that. You can see now its all based on results in head-to-head games (or stats accumulated in head-to-head games).
