No hot dog will ever compare to Dat Dog in New Orleans. Holy [expletive], I could rave about this place for hours. Food, atmosphere, everything. If you think you don't like hot dogs, you've never been to Dat Dog.

My dad is obsessed with that place.

I have kept my opinion to myself on Steve's Hot Dogs until now, but I just don't get it. I have a few friends that love the place and I get the impression that I had better not admit that I don't like it any time they bring it up for fear of being reported to Homeland Security for being a terrorist. I am not a fan of just the smoked dog itself. Give me a nice fresh dog grilled at the ballpark any day. I have tried a couple of different ones from Steve's and really didn't care for basic dog and I generally hate the idea of ordering one with all kinds of toppings just to cover up the smoked dog that I don't really care for.

They aren't horrible by any means and I could probably eat one again if I was with people who really wanted to go there but I just don't care for them.

I was going to Steve's Hot Dog's a month ago but didn't have time with the home improvement projects then - so I settled for Dirty Dogz a vendor in the exit lobby of Brentwood Home Depot that I must have walked past a dozen times. I still haven't made it to Steve's because Dirty Dogz is pretty darn good, and close.

I think we are in the same class. My only disagreement is I like getting my hot dog before the game, maybe watching some BP while eating a hot dog. I know I am in the minority but I can't eat anything other than seeds, peanuts, pistachios during a game. It drives me crazy to see people on TV sitting there with a huge plate nachos on one knee and a hot dog on the other knee and holding a beer with their teeth. It just looks too difficult. Whenever I am in that situation I just wolf my food down to get it over with before I spill everything on myself.

FTR -getting hot dogs at Home Depot is high class baby!

The best hot dog I have ever had in my life was at Sears in Springfield, IL back in the late '60. Free hot dogs, a little dixie cup of root beer, and going shopping with my Mom suddenly became tolerable.
