Back when I worked at Blueberry Hill ca 1990 they had one of the biggest dart tourneys in the US. Don't know if they still hold it.

When the Rams went to the Super Bowl against the Titans, I was just out of college, working in baseball. There were a couple of dudes on our team- pitchers- who stuck around town after the season was over. My roommate and I got a keg. The weirdest assortment of people showed up. One of my friends from grade school who I hadn't seen since I was 14, one of the intern chicks from the team I worked for, my roommate's girlfriend, and her friend, and I think her sister, plus the two pitchers...

At some point in the middle of the keg, the pitchers noticed the steel-tip darts that we had, and the dartboard. By the end of the night, they were standing all the way down the hallway, going full wind-up, pumping probably 80 mph darts toward the dartboard and the [expletive] drywall in my cheap-ass just-out-of-college apartment.

That night alone did outrageous amounts of damage to that apartment but it was one of the most fun nights I've ever had.
This is an amazing story

There are quite a few more ridiculous details from that party that I didn't share because they were non-dart related.

There's a decent living to be made if you can get on the "circuit", too. The atmosphere at one of the big tournaments is pretty amazing, it's a bit pro wrestling-like.
It doesn't surprise me now that you mention it but I had no idea there were pro darts. It's below bowling, ping pong, and putt-putt - all sports that I am aware have "professionals".

The only thing better is jarts - because of that sound it makes as it re-enters the atmosphere and pfffffffffmmmmppp - buries itself into the ground or someones skull. I love getting drunk and just lettin' them [expletive] fly.
We customized our own jarts game once: Teammates stand at opposite ends of the yard, and when your teammate throws, you have to toss the ring at the spot where you think the jart is going to land.

That's a pretty kick ass modification. I'm going to try that.

One of the first times I did LSD, we started playing darts. On my first throw, the dart board morphed into a tunnel and I nailed the bull's eye. After that, I could barely hit the board.

Darts and LSD seems like a good combo. Nothing bad can go wrong there.

They take their darts seriously in Australia:

Play was stopped at an Australian darts competition when rioting fans in fancy dress brawled and threw chairs.
