yeah, they know they got people by the balls. We, or at least I, have a tendency to accept their [expletive] products because it's what we have already.

I've handled and even embraced changing software and formats for over 2 and half decades at work/home. Most the times it's easy & worthwhile transition. Apple ITunes is the main exception to this. (second may be anti-virus and firewall programs that are as bad as viruses).

It seems this is the least popular thing they've launched in some time - plus, maybe a few people are a bit annoyed at them being the most profitable company in the history of the world.

I haven't used iTunes in years. Piece of garbage software. I use my phone to download podcasts directly to (Doggcatcher), and on the old iMac I use at home (I know, ranting about crappy Apple while using one of their products) I have Swinsian ($10 from the App store, but worth every penny). On the PC, I use MediaMonkey, which is like iTunes but good.

I was just thinking "we, as a society, do not spend nearly enough time with our heads buried up the ass of our mobile electronic devices." And when my phone is in my pocket and I'm forced to interact with the physical world around me, I'm lost and scared, like Michael McKean's character on Better Call Saul when he has to go outside.

If a facebook notification pops up and you are not staring at a device capable of making sure you hear it, ISIS has won.

I've really been dialing it back. Can do better. Once I'm out of busy season, I'm really going to take this ball and chain off. Takes a while. you have to train your counterparts as well, that you aren't there for them 24/7 in the virtual world.

This all said, I can't imagine wanting a apple watch.

I don't think they could pay me to wear that stupid iwatch. Don't get me wrong, I love the convience of being able to browse the internet from my phone, but that's as far as I go. No Twitter, no Instagram, and for the love of god no Facebook.

Sure, there are benefits of those social media outlets, albeit from what I can tell they are extremely limited. My wife is on all three & not only do they consume copious amounts of time, after she looks at them she seems more annoyed w/ people than anything. I spied in on what she was looking at last night and it was basically pics/videos of some completely narcissistic [expletive] that must be her own best friend because everything was either a selfie or her recording herself babbling on about absolutely nothing. This "social media culture" that is becoming ever more prevalent really has me feeling pretty sorry for the future.

Sorry folks, but I really don't give two [expletive] what you do everyday...and I definitely don't need you to document it via selfie videos either.

two things amusing about all of this... the first being that nobody seemed to care half as much when android wear came out, the second being how every technology thread on here is exactly the same.

I wouldn't say we're luddites here. We have the luxury of rejecting our own unfettered access to the internet - a good that previous generations would probably have killed to have.

I won't lie, the smartphone may be the most revolutionary invention of our lifetimes. The entire sum extent of human knowledge, music, tv, movies, writing, a high quality a/v recorder, and the ability to contact any human on the planet fits in a small rectangle in your pocket. That's insane.

At the very least, it makes settling bar bets easier.
