Holy [expletive] the Springfield cardinals are 5-16. Mayers pitching tonight and Lee pitching tomorrow. Headed to tomorrow's game for sure, maybe tonight's. I have no clue who Lee is...dammit.

Went to last night's game. Mayers looked damn good. Had a no no thru 4 and was still hitting 96 (according to the stadium) from the stretch in the 6th when we had to leave. Saw him touch 97 a couple times though I wasn't really paying all that much attention.

Tilson is super fast. He was more than obviously going to try to steal 2nd. Got about 5 throws over then stole 2nd w a good jump and no throw.

The box score for Diaz isn't bad, but I saw him take an AB that looked like a drunken fan out of the stands. All breaking balls in the dirt. I think he took 2 for balls and awkwardly flailed/slapped at 4 of them, making weak contact for a foul ball off to the right on one.

Also, the pitch clock is so weird.

Sorry but I'm having a lot of fun following the Astros minor leaguers. The Astros low-A team here in QC has a 19-6 record just like the Cardinals. A lot of the guys doing well are kids drafted out of college and are already 22-23 so they may move up fast. Mott Hyde for example. He's slashing .347/.456/.533. He's a college guy that was just drafted last year in the 26th round. Derek Fisher is another one looking good, and is a bit younger (21). He's got 5HR in 77 PAs, and is slashing .324/.403/.632.

On the pitching side it's similar. A team ERA of 2.17 and with a lot of 22-23 year olds. Brock Dykxhoorn (age 20) might be the best prospect of the younger guys. He's got a 1.93 ERA in 18 1/3 innings, 17 K's, 7 BB's. Joe Musgrove (age 22) and is off to a great start. He's got a 0.70 ERA, 23 K's and 1 walk(!) in 25 2/3 IP.

Julio Urias is on some other-level ish right now.

Noah Syndergaard's last two AAA outings have totaled 14IP, 19K, 2BB, 6H, 0HR. He's repeating AAA at age 22 and he should be up either as soon as the Mets have an injury, as soon as the Mets come to their senses on Niese, or as soon as the Super Two date passes.

There are some stud bats putting up eye-popping starts to the year in AA.
