The closer it gets to game time, the more I hate this game because my nerves just cannot take it.

That feeling is why you're a fan, I imagine. It can get somewhat tedious during the year paying attention to 162 games that count, but in the end are somewhat irrelevant. Games like this serve to remind you of why you love sports. I'm not even invested in it and have that feeling.

Seriously, I try to just take things in stride. I told my dad last night that I'm happy they got to where they are, particularly considering all the injuries. I don't care if they lose their next three games. That might be a lie if it's against the Cubs. But I don't get too high or too low with any game, and that even goes for the playoffs.

It's crazy just how every single call or play or pitch is so important, though. I was telling my boy last night that as we watched. With McCann arguing balls and strikes, Keuchel getting some close calls, and the in-game adjustments Houston seemed to make.

Exactly where I'm at. I'd love to see Cards-Cubs, but I don't think I could stomach the Cubs winning that series. And that's even with me recognizing what a crapshoot the playoffs are.

The Pirates are an excellent team with home field advantage. No matter how good you think Jake Arrieta is, Gerrit Cole isn't that much worse, and a lot of other advantages go Pittsburgh's way. This is a toss-up, and I don't think a real case can be made for either team to be more than a 55/45 favorite even if you skew every possible advantage in one direction.

Bud's game is stupid on many levels, but one of the ways it is stupid is that it is considered a "round" of its own so you can reset the rosters, so you can have several more hitters in this game as its only one game. They should make it so one has to keep the same roster for the coin flip and the following division series.
