I thought after Ten he and the band had an overbearing earnestness. Almost like they spent the rest of their career overcompensating for dipping their toe in rock stardom for a couple of years.

There's this super pretentious Kurt Cobain quote about Pearl Jam selling out, which was the irredeemable sin per counter culture sentiment of the time. I wondered, watching that video, if Eddie wasn't trying to be that culture's hero.

This was disappointing:

FWIW Billy Corgan is a Cubs fan but he's from the North side of Chicago and has been a fan his whole life. One of the rare legit and good ones.

Billy Corgan >>>>>>> Eddie Vedder

Is Vedder not a real Cubs fan? It appears he's from Evanston.

Good thing I'm not notable enough not be a real Cards fan. I'm from nowhere near St. Louis.

I disagree entirely with Pioneer. Billy Corgan can barely sing. Vedder has an all time rock voice.

Yeah, a number of years ago he wrote a little acoustic song about being a Cubs fan. There's video of him playing it for the team and singing along after Tuesday's game.

As silly as the 'celebrity shows up to celebrate team's success' thing is in general, if there's someone to have a side eye about whether they're a 'real' fan or not from this Cubs run, it's probably John Cusack.

Pearl Jam is the greatest American band of all time.
Eddie Vedder is a great musician.
I have seen Vedder solo once.
I have seen Pearl Jam four times.
My first ever email address was a Pearl Jam reference.
I've named pets in reference to Pearl Jam trivia.

TBS and the Cubs damn near ruined Pearl Jam and Eddie Vedder for me. I need the Cubs sucking again.
