I doubt Rasmus would be interested in returning to St. Louis at the same price he signed with the Rays. He wasn't happy here; he was uncomfortable here. The fans and media questioned his performance, his work ethic, and the involvement of his dad. The Cardinals wouldn't be a good fit at any price, regardless of the turnover in the organization.

There's too much history here of a bad past.

But I could once again display my Rasmus autographed baseball...isn't that what really matters?

You can have the consolation prize of a free pack of Colby sliced cheese for your sandwiches.

In Rasmus World, all setbacks are tied to TLR:
Former Cardinals outfielder Colby Rasmus is still haunted by former manager Tony La Russa.

In fact, he blames La Russa for the fact he didn't win a Gold Glove for his defensive work in 2016 for the Houston Astros — as if La Russa would care enough to interfere with the selection process.

Now Rasmus is a Tampa Bay Ray, and a bitter one at that. Listen to his rant to Tampa Bay Times scribe Marc Topkin:

"You know how the game is. In the show they don't necessarily like long hair and the redneck folks, that's just the way it goes. My good old friend Tony La Russa he has a lot of pull in the game, so you never know. I just try to play the game how I play it. I play hard. I play the game kind of (all) out, and rough, so I've hurt myself along the way. When it comes to back, injuries, they set you back for awards like that.

Jeez, man, give it a rest. Wow.

He's also just all kinds of stupid because the "sabermetrics" guys rated him as a +20 defender last year in the OF (DRS and UZR), which has to be among the best in the game.

And we all know how much Tony LaRussa hates players that play "all out".

I think his problem has been Tony all along. It's just not the one he keeps bringing up.
