There's a podcast that I listen to often , one of the last questions to the interviewees is "favorite beer?" -and I end up working that over in my head to frustration.

Hope the muse pays me a visit by tourney tip-off.
I figure all of the popular ones are taken, plus I don't give a [expletive] about winning. My plan is to nominate a couple that I enjoy and take my defeat in style.
Actually I think that's the stance a lot of people are taking/assuming, as most of the biggest/most popular covers are still available...

Since only 3 entries were allowed, you can have my 4th choice which I already regret not using (it's a sure Final Four song):

Paul Anka: Smells Like Teen Spirit, Nirvana, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RM_xvTaYavw

You're welcome. Move fast before somebody else grabs it.

Yes, we all know that Johnny Cash's "Hurt" and Jimi's "All Along the Watchtower" are masterpieces. I for one am going to be voting for the interesting gems, bizarre re-interpretations, and rethought versions that make you reconsider something about the original that you may have missed before.
FYI one of those two is actually still available...

File this under sentences you never thought you would read: I have an irrational, passionate hatred for Paul Anka.

Not kidding, I thought of that cover while on the can today. Specifically, "Man, remember that time Madonna did a dance-pop cover of, like, half of American Pie? That would kill in this tournament."

I think I would have eliminated All Along The Watchtower -and Hey Joe for that matter- by ruling out covers that were far bigger hits than the originals.

That's how I'm going to vote anyway.

Yeah, I will vote for a good cover I've never heard over anything well-known. I'm having trouble pulling official recordings.
