Re: Fax
Some of the more rural counties still fax us their press releases.
It's useless if, say, there's a wanted suspect and they think we can actually use a faxed picture on air.

How did they do that in 1995?

I was reading about the famous Iwo Jima photo - it was sent via radiofax - maybe not from that island but Guam, or somewhere out in the Pacific.

Re: Fax
A few years ago I got a letter at work from a guy in Switzerland who wanted to buy some of our stuff. He said he did not use email or even fax. He had literately printed off pages from our website (not sure how he did this) and mailed them to me so I would know what he was talking about. The letter was typed up on a type writer and he wrote like he was from the 19th century. Obviously the whole thing was a giant waste of time but I thought it was quirky so I wrote him back and mailed him info back to Switzerland.
We corresponded like that a few times. He never did buy anything, but he did send me a couple packets of Swiss chocolate, which was pretty good.
Very nice man.

Re: Fax
I bought a truck on an online auction for a fraction of its book value. Needed some mechanical work but I've got it cleaned up and running for about 25% of book value. Anyhow the DMV wouldn't let me liscense it without a signed bill of sale because I said I bought it so much below book. I had a bill of sale but it's not signed, they want a fax from the seller who doesn't have a way to send a fax. The title has the purchase price on it and is signed and notorized but that won't work. I'm hoping I don't have to make a 5 hour, one way, trip to get this signed, all because of a fax.IMADreamer wrote:Apparently in some parts of the business world it's still 1986 because they still use faxes. I was asked to fax in something to which I said I don't have one. They were shocked. I asked about a scanned email and they said "oh no it has to be faxed.' I asked if it was the 1980s there still and they weren't amused.

I gotta think places like Kinko's that let you pay to print by the page would also let you pay to use their fax machine for a reasonable amount per page.Diddy wrote:I bought a truck on an online auction for a fraction of its book value. Re: Fax
He doesn't want to go out of his way to do it. I'm going to try a different DMV office before I try anything else. From what she said I don't think it's a state policy but an office one. Makes a lbout a $1500 difference in the sales tax.Swirls wrote:I gotta think places like Kinko's that let you pay to print by the page would also let you pay to use their fax machine for a reasonable amount per page.Diddy wrote:I bought a truck on an online auction for a fraction of its book value.
