I don't need a coat to walk from my vehicle inside somewhere. I keep one in my vehicle for emergencies and to wear if I'm going to be outside for any extended time but to hassle with from vehicle to walking inside, no thanks.

i'll take a look at that coat too. Not sure I want a hood though, I wear stocking caps when it's cold. And I have a hoodie on about half the time already when it's cold out.
If I were only going from car to inside somewhere, i wouldn't worry too much. But I spend much more time out side than that.
As far as gloves - I have a decent pair, but can never find them. those cheap knit ones are what I normally end up wearing.

Two benefits of this coat are the very soft and comfortable and warm hood, and the way the neck zips up to my chin, eliminating the need for a hair-mussing stocking cap or a scarf that I have to shove in the arm of the coat and stuff when I take it off at a public place inside.

Whaddya, live in San Diego or something?
I live in the great state of Ohio. I don't need a coat to walk into my garage get in my car and drive to my office garage and walk into the office. On the rare occasion I need a coat I do have one, but it's about seven years old and I'm pretty sure I've worn it less than a dozen times.

REI's in-house brand has always been quality in my experience. Some of my favorite, most long-lasting gear (tent, camp chair, puffy vest).

I don't linger outside. I'm a sweater guy. That's plenty most of the time.
