Dumb; if this is truly about giving young guys a shot and seeing what they’ve got, pages has no place on this roster

Should just be crooks and bernal

Plus crooks has always been the superior hitter to bernal, but whatevs

Just because Crooks has been better in the minors, doesnt mean that its going to translate the same way in the majors. If Bernal doesn't impress Crooks will have another shot in spring training. He's gotten a taste and hopefully they find something to work on in the offseason with his approach at the plate.

Pages is a better defensive catcher and that helps along the young pitchers as well. Putting the young pitchers in a position to succeed is "giving the young guys a shot".

That would be wonderful if we had young pitchers up here to give a shot.

We’ve got mathews in the rotation and that’s about it, and he’s not young

The bullpen is a bunch of retreads and rejects and some never will do’s. The youngest arm at all we have is Gastelum at 24 (and he’ll be 25 in a couple weeks)

Pages is terrible defensively…I have never seen so many passed balls and just laziness behind the plate. If you want to say he’s a good receiver fine, but he’s not good defensively.

And if you’re talking about any of the young guys, guess who’ve they been throwing to? Bernal and Crooks in the minors.

Yeah, I don’t get it. It’s not like Pagés is Molina defensively either. He’s just fine. I didn’t understand why Pagés was playing so much with Crooks here. There’s the L/R thing but when they both have a sub-600 OPS who gives a [expletive]? At least let the kid get plate appearances.

Bloom has clearly been a home run thus far.

Resolving the catcher logjam is a challenge I’m anxious to see him navigate.

Crooks is the one highly rated prospect I just didn't see it with. FanGraphs does by far the best job of accurately projecting prospects of any outlet publicly available, but I don't agree with their evaluation here.

Bernal is the guy to my eyes. Pages is a non-tender candidate or a small trade chip.

There really isn’t a logjam. Crooks might not be a big leaguer and Herrera isn’t a catcher. Rodriguez’s bat shouldn’t be wasted at catcher.

Pages is fine as a backup or it’s fine if he’s gone. He’s irrelevant.

Sounds like the real logjam is at DH. At least 3 catchers who should be DH'ing instead, plus Baez if he continues to look lost in LF.

Isn’t his bat supercharged at catcher though? If he can play, say, 110 games there?
