Sounds like it's been a bad week for a lot of people. Friday I lost a neighbor. Nice old man, always had a big smile on his face, always would stop and chat just for a minute or two if we were both out. His son found him out in his shop. Today a good friend and mentor lost a two year battle with cancer. I'll miss them both dearly.

I'm really sorry, Third Man. That is far too young to die and I feel for you, his family, and friends.

A heartbreaking morning today. I was coming out of the hospital and I see on a bench an older man I know. As I got closer I see he has his head in his hands and he's crying. I sat down next to him and asked him what was wrong. His wife of 60 years passed this morning. I just put my arm around him and let him cry. It's all a little too familiar but I knew what was best for me was to just have someone there.

He and my mom only started dating in 2003 then got married in Dec 2004. It's not like he was a father to me or anything. He was just a really good man and it was so nice to see my mom get to have that in her later life.
