Woof. I checked and this guy usually isn't this bad. Ump missed 18, only two challenges, Cardinals missed 11 chances to overturn.
This was one of the 5-10 worst called games of the season, depending on how you want to measure it.

I know teams don't seem to like to use challenges early in games, but there were quite a few on both teams that were clearly strikes that he called balls, and no one challenged

I imagine it's tough to be sure on those outside calls, which is what I noticed the most

The Church one pissed me off the most because he swung at two pitches out of the zone after going 2-0 on the count. The pitcher didn't throw strikes, the hitter didn't swing at strikes, and the umpire called balls strikes. A's pitcher Brooks Kriske exited this game in the middle of the 8th; reason given was right shoulder soreness.
