Old School Iconic Chicago Steakhouse: Gibsons
New School: Bavettes or Swift & Sons
Not a huge steakhouse guy, but in general I prefer new school. I've read Gene & Georgetti is treading on its reputation.

I've been to Bavettes and Gibsons. I've heard good things about the other ones. I'm not really a steakhouse person so YMMV.

Boeufhaus is awesome, esp for lunch. The Boeuf on Weck and Pastrami are incredible, but their Philly Cheesesteak is a first-ballot HOF Chicago sandwich. One of the four best sandwiches in Chicago. I'm hungry. I think I'll head there now......

Old school new school, they all good. Though I can get awesome steaks from the cattle farmer in my wifes' family ...spoiled me.

I'd differ with the first point, agree with the second. Using buzzwords on menus is soooooooooooo 2015.
World's Fair donuts may not be the absolute best tasting donuts in St. Louis but they are still the best donut shop. Where else can you get half a dozen great donuts for $3.97 after tax?

Ended up doing Chicago Cut. Bone in ribeye was excellent and the view is pretty hard to beat.
