Old School Iconic Chicago Steakhouse: Gibsons
New School: Bavettes or Swift & Sons

Not a huge steakhouse guy, but in general I prefer new school. I've read Gene & Georgetti is treading on its reputation.

edit - I just noticed that post is from a couple of months ago. Doh!
Boeufhaus?
Yeah, that one as well. I forgot about that one.

I've been to Bavettes and Gibsons. I've heard good things about the other ones. I'm not really a steakhouse person so YMMV.

Boeufhaus is awesome, esp for lunch. The Boeuf on Weck and Pastrami are incredible, but their Philly Cheesesteak is a first-ballot HOF Chicago sandwich. One of the four best sandwiches in Chicago. I'm hungry. I think I'll head there now......

The menu at an old school steak house will be littered with the word steak and none of the previously mentioned buzz words. Also, your waiter will be wearing a white shirt, black bow tie and probably has a story about serving every celebrity and athlete you've ever heard of in the 70s.

Old school new school, they all good. Though I can get awesome steaks from the cattle farmer in my wifes' family ...spoiled me.

Any body been to -Tornados in Madison?

It was great, from what I remember....it was after a day of drinking, Badger Fb and walking around town in the cold. Definitely old school. http://www.tornadosteakhouse.com/

I'd differ with the first point, agree with the second. Using buzzwords on menus is soooooooooooo 2015.

Do you think there's any chance Michael hasn't?

I went there years ago. A great once in a lifetime experience that I'll never do again because of cost.

All that being said, I've never heard of that publication.

World's Fair donuts may not be the absolute best tasting donuts in St. Louis but they are still the best donut shop. Where else can you get half a dozen great donuts for $3.97 after tax?

Ended up doing Chicago Cut. Bone in ribeye was excellent and the view is pretty hard to beat.
