The Stanton situation is holding so much up right now.

Just reminding folks that this Friday is the nontender deadline. So, we'll see the market pick up a bit by mid-week.

Will Leitch had an article about when the major free agents from each class first signed, and we aren’t late into the game by any means.

That said, we had a lot more medium deals done at this time a year ago. By this time in 2016, Cecil had signed, the Astros signed Charlie Morton, Pat Neshek was traded to the Phillies, Cameron Maybin was traded to the Angels, RA Dickey signed, Bartolo Colon signed, Kendrys Morales signed, Howie Kendrick was traded, Brian McCann was traded, Andrew Cashner was signed, Josh Reddick was signed, and Jean Segura was traded.

Yeah, it seems like it's been glacial so far. But if you go to BB-Ref's free agency pages, you can rifle back through the years, sort by either date or WAR3 (last 3-years total WAR at time of signing)... there really aren't a ton of signings this early. Nothing of quality, anyway.

That surprises me. For some reason, in my head, it's much busier by this late in November.
Same goes for trades... go to Baseball Gauge's list of off-season trades, sort by career WAR of players involved in the trades, and check out when they happened. It's usually December before they start happening except for a few anomalies.

I always remember things starting to pick up a week before the Winter Meetings.

Reyes, Kelly, and Piscotty should be enough to get this deal done, no? Make it happen Mo!

The sad thing is the Braves will probably trade him for someone of value.
