It was all over Sportscenter. He just crumpled the dude.
When you hit a guy so hard his knees buckle and he's out cold before he hits the canvas, that's impressive.

Columbian fighters are my favorite. They are usually not happy with decision victories. Get on BoxRec.com and look at all their records. With few exception, they all have a 90+ knockout percentage. Ricardo Torres in another of my favorites.
Torres, the undefeated tough guy going into the Cotto fight? He was absolutely destroyed by Cotto.
Torres is good, but that was robbery vs. Holt. I mean the crowd was throwing food on Holt all night. Even a full beer can hit him. No way a title fight should ever be held in Columbia. I'm glad there is going to be a rematch... in America.
Except for the fact that he knocked Cotto down in the 2nd round and damn near had him out several more times. One of the best fights I've ever seen.
True, then Cotto got up and did his thing. That's why I love Cotto, no matter what the other guy does, he's in their grill throwing power body shots until it's over.

If you only watch one fight this year, make sure it's this weekend, Miguel Cotto v. Antonio Margarito!!

I recall watching Cotto and Margarito destroy their opponents (Cintron and Gomez) while fighting on the same card in April, wishing they would have been facing each other. A few months later, it is finally going to happen. This easily has the potential for fight of the year, if not decade.

Couldn't agree more. Cotto's the best fighter around, and Margarito's one tough dude.
I can't wait.

wikipedia wrote:Chess boxing is a hybrid sport which combines the sport of boxing with games of chess in alternating rounds. Chess boxing fights have been organized since early 2003. The sport was started when Dutch artist Iepe Rubingh, inspired by fictional descriptions of the sport in the writing of Enki Bilal, organized actual matches. The sport has become increasingly popular since then. To succeed players must be both skilled chess players and skilled boxers.

What a performance by Shane Mosley this past weekend against Antonio Margarito!! I knew Sugar Shane was still very much a contender despite his age, but I never saw that coming. After Miguel Cotto was able to beat Mosley last year, Cotto got destroyed by Margarito, making Margarito an overwhelming favorite against Mosley. But Shane showed again why he has been so good for so long by dominating Margarito from the opening bell.

To make matters worse for Margarito, he was apparently caught cheating, as a "plaster like" substance was removed from his gloves/hand wrap upon suspicion and request of Mosley's trainer. If it is found that he did indeed cheat, I think it is reasonable to assume that Saturday was not the first time, thus likely casting a shadow over his Cotto, among others, win; and unfortunately also the sport in general.

Next exciting fight, Feb. 7, Vic Darchinyan v. Jorge Arce, Showtime. Two little guys, but should be non-stop action.

Margarito is a fraud. Not to take anything away from Mosely, who is/was sensational, but Margarito is a fraud. He can't punch. Without the plaster in his gloves his a contender w/ a great chin, not an indestructible machine.

I can't wait for the Cotto rematch. Cotto will destroy him now w/o the plaster and the motiviation knowing he was cheated. Margarito should be suspended for a year. He should also be fined and Cintron and Cotto should be awarded the fined money since they lost their bouts and took unfair beat downs.

Margarito and his trainer, were just suspended for at least 1 year. He had plaster in his gloves and will probably never be able to fight in America again, rightfully so.

Margarito is a disgrace to himself and to boxing. What a joke. It's to bad Cotto wont ever get another crack at him in a fair fight to show how badly he would destroy him...

Great artice on the "Cheat" from the boxingtimes
