I just think it's odd that the media is enamored by Cam Newton, more than anything else. Tebow has been a better runner than Cam Newton, and he's taken better care of the ball, leading to better team results.

Why did you bold the QB rating? Isn't that a pretty good QB rating? The premise of your post is unclear.

Yes, for real. Are you pointing out the inadequacy of QB rating as a statistic? Because I think that's no secret. Regardless, you can't really judge a QB's day at all really, when you get 8 attempts. Obviously the coaching staff doesn't trust him.

Anyways, that touchdown pass was a great pass, and you can't take that away from him. I didn't see his 6 incompletions, but I know that he did enough with his 8 attempts and his legs to help his team win the game.

One of the incompletions was a shuffle-pass that the back simply dropped. Two others were downfield passes to Decker, similar to the touchdown throw. Decker was defended pretty well, but probably should have caught one of them. The other wasn't a great throw. Another was a pass that Tebow threw away on a busted play.

You're right - it's impossible to judge his effectiveness in the passing game today, because there really was no passing game. With John Fox, there will rarely be a passing game.

But Tebow isn't making mistakes - that's important for a team built around running the ball and playing good defense. And the read/zone option game has opened up running lanes for the backs, so that has helped.

The truth is that Tebow is helping the Broncos win games. That's about all you can ask of a guy that's only started half a dozen games.

Both of the incomplete deep passes to Decker were poor passes by NFL standards. Decker was open on both and the ball needed to be laid out over his outside shoulder and towards the hash.

I think it's funny people think the team is winning because of Tebow, rather than in spite of him. Denver's defense was awesome, and the offense played ball control. Give Tebow credit for not turning the ball over, but he wasn't very good as a QB no matter how you slice it, and that fact is no more evident than the fact his coaching staff obviously doesn't trust him enough to throw the ball.

Does he get credit for Miami not handling an onsides kick? How about Von Miller wreacking havoc on the Chiefs O-line? Without those two things, Denver loses both games and he's all of a sudden not a "winner."

That statement just doesn't reflect the things that occur on the field unless he's Bugs freaking Bunny.

Giving credit to Tebow for not turning the ball over is fast becoming the same as giving credit to the center for not turning the ball over.

The truth is that Tebow is helping the Broncos win games. That's about all you can ask of a guy that's only started half a dozen games.

Yeah, it would be foolhardy to bench him at this point, when the team is winning. it ain't sexy. but winning is winning. Likewise -it would be foolhardy to lock in Tebow as the QB for next season.
