When did this happen? That sounds like a drag, just what you want to do on your vacation is run to the airport every day to see if your luggage showed up. I'm not defending UA at all, that sucks. I'm just saying that at O'Hare, I have the impression that when the [expletive] hits the fan, they get some preference getting flights out. Maybe that's not correct.

It was about 6 or 7 years ago. We went there for our 2nd anniversary. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend the Virgin Islands to anyone....so many other better places out there.

To top things off, on our flight back (which went through Chicago again) our flight got cancelled because of snow and once again United didn't do jack [expletive]. Luckily, we saw the flight was in jeopardy when in Miami & we booked a hotel near the airport which all sold out by the time we arrived in Chicago.

Then because of all the cancelled flights the best they could do was put us on standby the next day so we sat around the airport for hours....so yeah, [expletive] United.

pretty sure it was United that left my sister on the tarmac for an hour and a half at SFO before canceling the flight

Agreed, [expletive] United!

I've been in and out of airports literally since I was five years old. I can honestly say, in 25+ years of flying both for business and leisure, I have never had a round trip flight from O'Hare that either left or arrived on time. Often times either the departure flight or the return flight will leave/arrive on time, but if it does, then the other flight will be delayed. I hate O'Hare with the fire of a thousand suns. I vehemently refuse to fly out of either O'Hare or Dallas-Fort Worth. I've had many similar issues at DFW, but learned much quickly there so I haven't flown out of it in years.

The only times anymore that I go through O'Hare are for business when the company buys the tickets and I have no choice in the matter. If I must fly through Chicago, I will choose Midway every day of the week.

You're guys rant about United/O'Hare exactly mirrors my experience with Delta/ATL. I guess its a major hub problem. I avoid ATL like the plague. I'll drive the 90 minutes to Nashville to avoid it. I usually end up getting to my destination quicker and always cheaper than flying out of HSV.

I'm not a huge fan of Delta either, although that's who I do all my personal travel with. I've never really had terrible experiences at ATL - it's the largest airport in the world for a reason, and honestly it's not even close - overall I think their airport is laid out quite efficiently. My biggest gripe for Atlanta is that pretty much every flight coming in requires you to taxi for about 20 minutes it seems, and every flight going out requires you to wait in a line behind 10 other planes also trying to take off so you wait 20 minutes to depart. I once had the Captain broadcast over the PA that we were #28 or something in line and that the estimate wait for to finally get airborne was right at about 2 hours.

I was a big fan of Northwest, and was sad when Delta bought them. I did ALL my personal travel with them (or TWA out of STL Lambert way back in the day). I've finally used 90% of my Delta SkyMiles so perhaps I'll switch over to flying US Airways out of Charlotte, since that's one of their main hubs.

No doubt Midway is easier to deal with than O'Hare. But sometimes you can't avoid it, and when you can't I seem to have better luck at O'Hare with United than the other carriers in terms of getting out on time etc...

My Top 3 most hated airports:
O'Hare
Dulles
Dallas-Fort Worth

Every airport has their quirks, but those 3...holy [expletive]...just rent a damn car instead.
