It goes against the essence of being a fan.
fan is short for fanatic. they can react however they want.
They sure can.

And I can say I don't understand it.
I'm not actively rooting for the team to lose, personally. I'm just growing increasingly indifferent, commensurate with ownership's indifference to trying to win a WS (rather than at best fielding a team that could make the wild card).

My advice to you is to start drinking heavily.

USA Today’s Bob Nightengale reports that the Cubs and RHP Lance Lynn “have entered contract negotiations” on a one-year deal.
It remains to be seen if the deal gets finalized, but it appears to be close. Lynn isn’t a bad choice to fill out an MLB rotation since he registered a 3.84 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, and a 109/44 K/BB ratio over 117 1/3 innings in 23 starts with the Cardinals in 2024. He will certainly not be ready for Opening Day if the Cubs sign him two weeks before the season starts, but he could push Colin Rea or Jordan Wicks for the fifth spot in the rotation by the end of April.

Cardinals optioned RHP Gordon Graceffo to Triple-A Memphis
It had been thought that Graceffo would be in the battle with Andre Pallante and Michael McGreevy for the fifth spot in the rotation, but that does not appear to be the case. It remains to be seen if Graceffo will be stretched out to stay in the Triple-A rotation or remain as a reliever. The final spot in the Cardinals rotation will now be between Pallante, McGreevy, and Matthew Liberatore.

Sweet sweet cash
The Tigers have acquired left-hander Bailey Horn from the Cardinals in exchange for cash considerations, according to announcements from both clubs.

Scrooge McDuckwitt counting his coins. He's going to go diving in his coins after he finishes counting them.

He was DFA'd to make room for the big FA signing, I think

Paul Goldschmidt homered, doubled and knocked in four runs to power the Yankees past the Tigers 8-6 on Thursday.
The Tigers showed some interest in Goldschmidt over the winter before deciding instead to sign Gleyber Torres and move Colt Keith to first base. That sequence might work out well for both them and the Yankees, as both veterans have put together nice springs. Goldschmidt is 9-for-30 with three homers and 10 RBI in 11 games.
