I guess there was a time when people were best kept in line by fear and then later times changed to where people needed hope instead, hence the new testament.

anybody watch Better Off Ted? they have an episode about the new motion sensors in the office building not being able to detect black employees. The company hires white people to follow the black people so that they can get into rooms and not have lights turn off on them, then for equal opportunity they hire more black people to follow the white people who are following the black people and finally they determine within a few months they'd have to hire everybody in the world to maintain equal opportunity... so finally they just re-install the old non-racist sensors
