Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports that the Astros are closing in on a five-year, $151 million extension with Jose Altuve.
Altuve is signed through the 2018 season, and the Astros have a club option that would pay him a ridiculous $6.5 million in 2019. The deal would reportedly start after the 2020 season, so Houston will pick up that option in order to make the deal go through. He'll turn 28 in May, and he's coming off an MVP award-winning season that helped Houston win their first championship in 2017. He's worth every penny.
