Discusting! How do you steal the momentum by tying it right before the half, then stopping them on their first drive of the second half, and then play like hazelwood west the rest of the night is beyond me.
I feel like I did after the sox swept us in 2004.
WTF OFFENSE?!?!?!?!?!

Way to be fair and impartial. I'm done watching this crap. I hope we stomp the crap out Oklahoma next year. I swear to God.
Is this for real? Musberger is terrible, I'd like to punch him in the throat.
And I'd also like to do terrible, terrible things to the people(Rose Bowl, BCS in general) who are going to put Kansas and Illinois in BCS games as at larges in front of Mizzou.

Re: Oklahoma vs. Missouri
I think it's wrong to accuse OSU of "back dooring" their way into the BCS National Championship. It's not OSU's fault that Missouri's conference wants to gouge every dollar that they can out of the fans by schedule a meaningless conference championship game after the conference schedule has already been played. It's stupid. Missouri and Oklahoma had already played this year. There was no reason to put Missouri through that misery again. But it's not Ohio State's fault.BenNX74205 wrote:I'm not going to turn this into a whine-fest about having to play a Conference Championship game, because if we could ever find a way to beat Oklahoma the point would be moot, BUT if we're going to use polls and computers and claim the BCS is an impartial, objective system, then either all six BCS conferences should have an extra game at the end of the season for a conference championship game, or none of them should.fanforever wrote:What bothers me the most is that Ohio State jumps up to number one by sitting on their azz for the last three weeks. There's absolutely no incentive for teams like USC, OSU, or WVU to schedule anything other than cupcake opponents for their non-conference schedule, since they can just play maybe 1-2 tough games the entire year, avoid a face-off against the 2nd best team in their conference, and back door their way into the BCS National Championship.

I'm not saying it's Ohio State's fault Mizzou had to play a conference championship game, but OSU did back door its way into the National Championship game. They haven't played a game the last two weeks, and in that time every team ahead of them has lost. When you move up five or six spots in the rankings by virtue of not playing, I think that's a joke. All the teams should be playing the same number of games, and either (a) all the conferences should have a championship game or (b) none of them should. West Virginia may have lost last night, but they already have their automatic bid for winning the Big East.Socnorb11 wrote:I think it's wrong to accuse OSU of "back dooring" their way into the BCS National Championship. Again, I'm not blaming OSU for the Tigers having to play a conference championship; I'm just arguing that if we're going to stick with the BCS (which is a broken system anyway), then the circumstances each conference plays under need to be the same. Right now, it's like having the American League/AFC/Eastern Conferece play their playoff route to determine the league winner, while the National League/NFC/Western Conference just send the team with the best record straight to the World Series. All the teams in BCS conferences need to play under the same conditions.

I agree that all conferences should play by the same rules. The Big Ten has chosen to remain "traditional", resisting the temptation to rake in those extra bucks by playing a championship game.
Part of the problem with the Big Twelve (in my opinion) is that there are too many teams in one conference, and so you almost have to split them up. Thus, you end up with the championship game. The way Ohio State has been playing, I think that they would have only made their case stronger by rolling to a Big Ten Championship Game win, but we'll never know.

Re: Oklahoma vs. Missouri
Yesterday, everyone was saying how cool it will be to beat OU in the championship game.
Today, it sounds like everyone is mad that they had to play the game.
Just win, and it takes care of itself.

It's not perfect, but it is fair enough. Just win the game.GatewaySnayke wrote:Thank you, Ben. If Missouri didn't have to go through with this tomfoolery of playing a Big XII championship, they'd be on their way to New Orleans. Tonight convinced me that the BCS is indeed unfair. If it weren't the Tigers, I'd probably be saying different, but I'm officially ready for a change. Unfortunately, it's not happening.BenNX74205 wrote:I'm not going to turn this into a whine-fest about having to play a Conference Championship game, because if we could ever find a way to beat Oklahoma the point would be moot, BUT if we're going to use polls and computers and claim the BCS is an impartial, objective system, then either all six BCS conferences should have an extra game at the end of the season for a conference championship game, or none of them should.fanforever wrote:What bothers me the most is that Ohio State jumps up to number one by sitting on their azz for the last three weeks. It is just like when the Cards won the World Series, and people were unhappy because they weren't really the best team. But they won the games. It is that simple.
If you want to be called the champ, win the games.

Re: Oklahoma vs. Missouri
Let's also be fair to Ohio State. In their last 4 games, they had to play Penn State (road), Wisconsin, Illinois, and Michigan (road). Penn State started the season in the top 15. Michigan and Wisconsin started in the top 10. As it played out, the team that was supposed to be the cupcake (yet ended up being possibly the best of the 4) ended up beating them at home.
Ohio State played 12 games. Mizzou ended up playing 13. It's not like Mizzou had to play 3 more games. The Big Ten Schedule finishes a week before everyone else, and 2 weeks before conference championship games, but they also don't schedule a bye week for most teams. And while they don't play a championship game, in most years they'll face all of the top teams from the conference, because they play 8 conference games (they avoid 2 teams per year).

Re: Oklahoma vs. Missouri
Suppose Oklahoma had come into yesterday's game ranked #2 in the BCS, and Missouri had come in ranked #3. The Big Twelve championship game would have given Missouri a chance to vault themselves into the BCS title game by beating Oklahoma, and Missouri fans would be thrilled that they had the opportunity to play that game, rather than crying foul because they had to play that game. The Big Twelve championship game can help a team, as well as hurt them. But.......... you've got to win it. If you don't, then do you really deserve play for a BCS championship? I don't think so. Missouri controlled their own destiny yesterday......... Ohio State didn't. Which position would you rather be in? I'm sure that Ohio State would have much rather been in Missouri's shoes yesterday, playing for an opportunity to go to the BCS Championship, rather than sitting on the sidelines hoping that the chips fall their way.
