Gordon: Feliz trade is small step in right direction

Adding Pedro Feliz makes the Cardinals a little better. He has played well for championship teams, so he knows the crunch-time drill.
Reading the rest of it, found here, it's not nearly as dumb as it sounds at first. But my jaw just about hit the ground when I saw that headline and first sentence.

Gordon is far and away the worst sportswriter/sports media personality in this town.
"It was a dark and stormy night."

And it's not like he doesn't have any competition for that title.

I blame the guys in the thread title for those damn advertising sleeves on P-D front page and sports.

There aren't many of us daily subscribers out there, and they up and make the paper less convenient for us.

I am not sure how I missed this Gordo gem.

This belongs on a t-shirt, coffee mug, or a tombstone.

P-D has a decent football writer in Jim Thomas, but he gets third billing behind the opines of Bernie and Burwell.

As long as he's a beat writer and not a columnist, it's just going to be that way.

With the exception of Strauss, I like the beat guys for the most part (Goold, Thomas, Rutherford).

Bah. I know he's a beat writer, but shouldn't Thomas' game story get at least a byline on the front page, instead of Burwell and Bernie's opinion of the game hogging it all.

Or eliminate Burwell and Miklasz alltogether and let Thomas rip away with some opinions. The P-D has a guy Thomas that writes from at least get 2d hand information, unlike the 3rd hand stuff columnists get. I would think higher source info is worth something in this day and age where we have internet forums to kick around all the 3rd hand info that columnists do. (though occassionally Bernie seems to gather some higher source info. - he probably gets it from Thomas.)

I really don't have a general thing against Miklasz-and still will read him on Saturdays. Nothing against Burwell either since I don't read him. Thomas is just better.

I like reading Goolds blogs and Rutherfords chats for this very reason. The beat writers opinions tend to be a better read than the Opinion writers.

Burwell: Not signing Pujols now is one of riskiest moves in baseball history.

Good grief.

Bernie's actually been the voice of reason (yeah it's that bad) around the PD about it, realizing (and saying repeatedly) that this "Deadline" is hardly the end of the negotiations but only the beginning.
