BA listed Taveras as the 6th best prospect in the MWL, inexplicably behind other OF prospects Jake Marisnick and Rymer Liriano. Both of the other two are a at least a full year older than Taveras and had already spent significant time in the MWL in 2010. I guess their rationale must be their speed tool as they both stole bases (Marisnick 37, Liriano 66) or possibly defense. I definitely get why Walker is rated no. 1 and I can somewhat undestand Hamilton and Castellanos but ranking the others ahead of him is a head-scratcher to me.

I think that his injuries and ab's hurt him.

Marisnick could be a star if his tools actualize.

I hope to have my top-20 list up later tonight, and that goes a lot more in-depth on my thoughts on Taveras' tools.

An article about Taveras going to play on the Arizona Fall League. Bryce Harper is the only player younger than Taveras slated to play in the league.

It's a smart move having him play in the AFL. He missed so many ab's during the season that he needs some more seasoning before a logical promotion to PB or Springfield.

He deserves his own thread. This is getting ridiculous.

In 24 games he has 7 HR's, just 13 strikeouts, and a .347 batting average. OPS is well over 1.000 now.

He's 19 years old. 19! And he's doing this in AA. The average age of AA'ers is probably 23-24. He's 4 years young for the league and he's dominating it.

I said this last year and I don't want it to come off the wrong way, but we haven't see anything like this since Albert Pujols. He's never let up. He just keeps hitting.

5 of 7 HRs have come on the road, so it hasn't just been a Springfield mirage.

What's impressing me so far is that we talked a lot last year about "doubles power". You expect that early, and for those doubles to translate to HR's when he matures.

Well, he's still just 19. And it sure looks like the HR's are coming. And in a league that's supposed to be too much for him.

He's not getting Bryce Harper or Mike Trout attention, but I think he might be one of the legitimate top 5 prospects in the minor leagues. If he keeps this up, you're going to have a whale of a time convincing me that anyone is better.

Do I recall some saying he won't be a ML CFer? He seems to be playing mostly there in Springfield. If he could handle it, any possibility he gets a cup of tea before Adams? We seem to have 1B all sorts of covered, but a solid bat that can play CF seems valuable with Jay/Skip/Beltran out there.
