Yeah I was pleased with the D but the speed advantage gets negated when you get tired and don't have quality backups. Unless we get a lot better at recruiting that will always be an issue against a few teams.
I was disappointed in the mental mistakes on offense but it was encouraging to see a lot of our bread and butter plays work against a quality defense. If the offensive line wasn't such a horror show I think we find a better rhythm. We still had several home run plays which was good to see.
Overall we didn't get embarrassed against the likely east champ and darkhorse NC contender. Alabama and LSU are basically on another level than the rest of the conference but I think we can hang with anyone else. They capitalized on their turnovers and we didn't and that was the difference.

A few days later, this is exactly how I feel. I feel a ton better about a lot of those other SEC games moving forward. They pushed Georgia almost to the end of the game, and then one guy ate Mizzou's lunch. Otherwise, Mizzou was right there with them, blow for blow. If they can match that against Kentucky, Vandy, Tennessee, aTm, Florida... pretty much everyone not named Alabama... they should win a lot of games this year.
We'll know more today about a timeline for his return, but he tore his MCL. I guess I could see him coming back late in the season, but I'm not sure I want him to, for his own sake.
Did they say it was a tear? Last I heard Pinkel said it was "concerning the MCL" and there wasn't any more information on if it was a sprain, strain, tear, or if it caught fire(most likely considering Fisher's past).
Mizzou controled the game for the first 40 minutes.
Then Georgia took over, in a big way.
The D- looked strong and fast. Gaines, Ebner, Madison, Gooden, all looked outstanding.
The offense?
What was that? Why so few passes down the field? Why so many runs up the middle w/ Franklin?
Why so little DGB?
I thought it was a dreadful performance from Yost, and Franklin.
The problem Mizzou will probably have to deal now with in the SEC is the overall depth of the teams in this new conference. From a starting lineup perspective they match up pretty much even with a lot of SEC teams but later in the games the other teams are able to keep their lineman fresh with substituting in fresh but still quality players is going to be the big problem.

Isn't that the same problem Mizzou had against Texas and Oklahoma? The defense always looks great in the first half, and then they struggle during the end of the game. I doubt that will change any time soon.

I don't agree with that assessment at all, at least not pertaining to OU, Texas, or even the rest of their schedule the last few years. In 2010-2011, Mizzou was 2-1 vs. OU and Texas, and their defense held Texas to 5 points (2 of which came on a safety, so Texas' offense scored 3).
I DO think it'll be a problem against the big boys in the SEC- basically, Georgia, Alabama, and South Carolina on this year's schedule. But not against the rest.
