I would. Again, that's not why you hire Scott Boras.
What significance does New Year's have? A better party at the Holliday house?

The question then becomes which beat writer will be the first to use the aforementioned headline? My guess is Leach - he won't be the first to break the story (that will be either Droopy Dog or Goold), but he will use the headline.

Old Leach is on vacation.
Remember when the Cardinals traded for Holliday and Leach tweeted around 11am "No need for coffee this morning" after the news had been out since 9 or 10 the night before.
Hilarious.

This seemed crazy to me at first, but it's just shy of Teixeira's deal.
Today, John Tomase of the Boston Herald reports that Holliday and agent Scott Boras asked for a deal worth $170MM when the Red Sox offered $85MM back in early December. That's Mark Teixeira territory, so the Red Sox moved on.

Tomase reports the proposed contract would also include a no-trade clause, five neutered elephants, two time machines, a life-scale replica of the Titanic, and a private solar system with transportation costs included for up to 3 years.
