Sheesh. Over $150B to AIG and counting.
Re GM, I hope the government doesn't decide to extend any more loans. It's time to call in the bankruptcy gurus and do a real work out, because GM's board and executive leadership is not up to the task.
I imagine some of that CNBC video is way out of context, but it's still hilarious.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/03/0 ... 72428.htmlWASHINGTON — The nation's unemployment rate bolted to 8.1 percent in February, the highest since late 1983, as cost-cutting employers slashed 651,000 jobs amid a deepening recession.
Both figures were worse than analysts expected and the Labor Department's report shows America's workers being clobbered by a wave of layoffs unlikely to ease in the coming months.
"There is no light at the end of the tunnel with these numbers," said Nigel Gault, economist at IHS Global Insight. "Job losses were everywhere and there's no hope for a turnaround any time soon."
Interesting that they're so glum about it. This morning, when the numbers were released, Erin Burnett said numbers were almost dead on with projections. She said that is unusual, regardless of too high or too low it's typically further off. Unemployment was expected at 8% but the number of jobless projected as being a bit lower than the actual number (I forget the projection) She also added, as she always includes a bit of optimism, that there's usually a revision of the previous month's numbers (usually adding) but there's not one today.Jocephus wrote:http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/03/0 ... 72428.htmlWASHINGTON — The nation's unemployment rate bolted to 8.1 percent in February, the highest since late 1983, as cost-cutting employers slashed 651,000 jobs amid a deepening recession.
