best I've seen are, as a top 5,

1. 2011
2. 1991
3. 2002
4. 1997
5. 2001

All went 7 and all had great comebacks or extra inning wins, but I have only been watching World Series since 1988.

You've got to give Napoli credit as a tough son of a gun.

Despite suffering a gruesome-looking ankle injury in Game 6 of the World Series Mike Napoli remained in the game and then played Game 7, but that’s the last time he’s been able to run.

It’s nearly three months later, but Napoli told Richard Durrett of ESPN Dallas that he recently attempted to start running again and was unable to do so comfortably:

Forward to Matt Holliday.

I'm actually thankful Holliday didn't play in Game 7. Craig played great. Robbed TX of a homerun and hit one himself.

With the way Holliday bottomed out in the World Series due to injuries, game 7 could been a much tougher situation had he started. Possibly take a run off the board with the homer. Maybe put one on Texas side if he doesn't make the catch.

6-2 woulc have been 5-3 or worse.

I did something pretty similar to my left ankle on a vacation hiking in the mountains one year (it was nasty, my whole foot turned purple for a while), and even several months later I wasn't able to run even to save my life. It can take a while to recover from that bad a roll.

Yeah thing about Napoli. Rah rah he played hurt and all that. He also went 1-6 and contributed jack poo to the end of game 6 or game 7 after the injury.

I'm sure Holliday could have batted .167 and contributed absolutely nothing to the team as well.

I am glad that Matt manned up and didn't let the boo boo on his pinky get in the way of us losing a World Series.
