I got a new Blu Ray player that I can watch things like Netflix, Youtube, MLB.tv among other things as long as I have a membership to them, I assume that this HBO thing will also be viewable on Blu Rays or gaming systems that you can watch on your actual TV and not only on your computer screen. Honestly, sports programming is the only thing keeping me from cutting the cable service I currently have.

$10 is a steal. I have DISH and I'm paying $19 a month for HBO.

But remember, the real victim of à la carte pricing would be the smaller dogs unable to strike out on their own. Sure, people might pay for a Comedy Central subscription, but how many will spring for a membership to IFC?

The little cable networks could be in big trouble. I love Turner Classic Movies. All the people that are pissed because ESPN jacks up their cable bill might feel differently when the niche channels they like go out of business.

Forget how much they charge for it. I'm curious what the options will be. Is it going to be $x/month that you have to renew monthly; $(x-y)/month if you sign up for an entire year; or is it going to be more along the lines of $z/show with no subscription required and the show can be bought at the scheduled air time?

Depends on how much they charge. Most of the cable carriage fees are less than $1/mo, and IFC is surely in the low end of that. If only the people who were interested in watching IFC paid $1/mo, could they get the same revenue? The obstacle needn't be price though the loss of promotional aspect of being included in a package that people automatically get would certainly be an issue.

And, as noted with HBO, if IFC (who?) is going to have to provide material online, theyll have to have all the infrastructure. Which, depending on how many memberships they sell, may add such a cost that it'll make their product unsellable.
