I was thinking there could be some cause of action there. I could see withholding it long enough to verify that the receipt wasn't tampered with, but to completely ban it seemed a bit arbitrary to me.

This place is trying something I've advocated for awhile, with good success. Strict no tipping policy, charge a little more for the food, and their servers are guaranteed either $10 an hour or 20% of food sales (whichever is higher). I think at least 75% of all server jobs would do better under this system, and things would be a lot less stressful all around.

I was obligated to tip my shuttle driver from the airport today, which seems ridiculous, considering I paid for a ticket and all.

Short of chucking my luggage out of the trunk and driving around in circles... I just dont see what a guy could do to not earn that tip. Am I completely missing the point of tips or something?

Am I paying the guy 3 to 5 bucks to lift 45 pounds 3 feet off the ground? Because that's not what I'd put the going rate on that.
