Does it typically start the first week of October? Or is it early because of the Olympics?

Don't quote me on this, but I think this is typical.Farewell Friends wrote:Does it typically start the first week of October? Or is it early because of the Olympics?

I like Scottie but Jagr or Iginla makes more sense.

Jagr or Iginla don't make a lot sense for this team as it's constructed. They've spent two offseasons trying to get younger and faster. Jagr or Iginla would be counterproductive to that strategy.MrCrowesGarden wrote: I like Scottie but Jagr or Iginla makes more sense.
A lot of people seem to think we need to replace Fabbri's offensive skill. That's simply not going to happen and certainly not with Jagr who's basically the polar opposite of Fabbri at this point in his career.
Upshall at least makes some sense from a depth perspective as he's been a quality PK man and can improve that 4th line. I'd rather not sign him either though.
I say give Tage Thompson 10 games and see if he can stick. Klim Kostin is intriguing but I don't think he's ready outside of the offensive zone.

I disagree. They've lost scorers and could use one-year help until Kostin or Thompson are ready.

Iginla had 14 goals last season, Jagr 16. We're not exactly talking a ton of goals here.MrCrowesGarden wrote:I disagree. They've lost scorers and could use one-year help until Kostin or Thompson are ready.
Steen will be back soonish, Berglund in a couple months. Let the kids play.

I would rather take a chance on lightning in a bottle than another 3rd/4th liner. I can't even say with certainty it'll work out, but I'm uninspired by fetishizing checkers.

Jagr would be a stat-sheet, knee-jerk reaction devoid of bigger picture hockey strategy. Nostalgia is fun, but there's not much backchecking left in those legs.

Nah. He could potentially give this team something it doesn't have. His 46 points a year ago would've been 5th on the Blues, and one of the 4 ahead of him is a defenseman.
