Aye, but 66 of those KSU yards came on a play when they shouldn't have even had the ball (the run after the failed 4th down attempt by Mizzou when there was a ridiculous non-call of interference on Coffman), and one of Mizzou's drives started at the KSU 15.

I don't know.... watching that game, even after the blocked punt, there was never really a point where I felt like KSU was in it. MU had control of it pretty much the entire way.

They may have been outgained by 100 yards, but the Tigers did jump out to 14 points after only two offensive snaps. The defense forced that first turnover where they had a ridiculously short field, and then Maclin broke the kickoff for another seven. Granted after that the possessions weren't as explosive, but K-State did get to put together some good drives while the Tiger offense had yet to really take the field.

I would say there were a couple times when I felt KU was in it. When they were driving towards a touchdown that would have put them up 22-21, I felt like Mizzou was in a fight. But after the defense stepped up and held them to a field goal I felt better. And after the start to the second half, I felt really good about Mizzou winning the game.

And that was a ridiculous non-call after the defender wrapped Coffman up. He did barrel into the defender, but the defender put his arms around Coffman to take him out of the play after the ball was in the air.

Don't forget Gettis' INT that was ruled an incompletion.

Not to be a whiny jerk because you have to win regardless. But there were some pretty ridiculous calls that went against the Tigers.

That's another bad call that I had largely forgotten since the defense forced a few other turnovers in the second half. It's nice to see the Tigers get over another one of their hurdles, since they hadn't won in Manhattan since the 80s.

What I would love to see is a game where the Mizzou offense fires on all 12 cylinders for the entire 60 minutes. Would love to see that next week against Kansas. I think the closest the team has come to doing that was the 2nd and 3rd quarter against Colorado. They scored 41 points in those two quarters, and probably could have gotten more considering six of those points were on field goals shorter than 30 yards.

The last two weeks, they won by 17 and 14 points. In the 17 point game, they were up by 24 late in the game. By most accounts, beating a team like K-State by 24 points is a pretty handy whoopin'.

My point? Think of how far the program has come. At any point between 1985 and 2005, beating a team by 14 points or more would've made us giddy.
I don't feel picked on, no worries! :thumb:

Oh I love how far the program has come, and don't dispute that. I was speaking from the perspective of looking at Mizzou as a potential top 2 team. I would expect the #1 or 2 team in the nation to keep Iowa State and Kansas State off the scoreboard a little more.

Yeah, we played well, but I didn't think we dominated the last two unranked teams for the whole game... that said, I was out of town Saturday, and could only read about the game in the paper, and on this thread, so my opinion is incomplete.

I just think that WV leapfrogging us isn't unheard of since they were right behind us, and beat a better team. I'm a Mizzou homer (albeit a baby fan, since the Brad Smith years only ), so I'm unhappy that we were leapfrogged, but I don't cry foul yet.

If we beat Kansas and whomever we face in the big 12 title and don't jump over WV, then I'll cry foul, because Kansas will be the #2 team at that time, and since we're right behind WV, we should leapfrog them (as well as Kansas) for the same reasons they leapfrogged us.

If that makes sense...

I'd be pretty shocked if MU beats Kansas and wins the Big XII title against either OU or Texas... and WV ends ahead of them.

Given MU's wacky cursed history, it shouldn't surprise me. Now playing the role of Matt Davidson, it's the BCS computer!

Yeah, Missouri may not have dominated the last two weeks the same way they dominated Texas Tech, Nebraska, or Colorado, but they beat Texas A&M by 14, and I believe held the lead the entire game. A&M did close it to 5 a couple times in the second half, but I also believe that each time they got within 5 Mizzou scored a TD on the very next drive. The Tigers also beat K-State in Manhattan, and they were up 24 points late in that game a couple times (42-18 and 49-25), and the last touchdown K-State scored was with like 2 minutes to play. I'd say Mizzou had a little trouble with A&M, but that's mostly because they had two possessions the entire 3rd quarter, and one ended on a rare Chase Daniel fumble. Mizzou's most dominant half of the last two games was the second half against K-State.

Again, not complaining at all. Been a Mizzou fan since I was 9 or 10 (only football I really had to grow up with), so it's great to see the program where it is today. At least the BCS guy on First Take today said that if Mizzou wins out they should leapfrog over West Virginia--Kansas is ranked number one by the computers, so a win over them would mean a lot to both the human polls and the computers as well. This is probably going to be the most exciting Border War ever. It's certainly has to be the most meaningful.

I've got a friend in law school at Wake Forrest who's also been a Mizzou fan since he was 9 or 10. He was the one who really got me into the team during those first Brad Smith years. I might try to convince him to start looking at roadtrip costs to the BCS championship game. If we pull off 2 wins and get there, I'll probably just ask for tickets and money for Christmas so I can afford to go. I hope my friend will consider going as well. It would not be nearly as fun without him.

This friend sounds like just about the coolest guy ever. I'm sure he would consider going to the BCS Championship Game if Mizzou made it there.
