Plus, the scene where she got her ass handed to her and needed the big, strong men to come rescue her really took away from the whole point, I thought.
That show has already fallen right I to stereotypical network TV cop drama....didn't she say something to the effect of 'just another day at the office' when asked about her bruises?
And then there was a moment when she says something like "...not like you see on TV." Trying to break that fourth wall, but was still pretty cliche.

I enjoy most BBC cop dramas, because they aren't really cop dramas. I think most of the American audience just says, "Yeah, yeah, yeah...just solve the crime and arrest/kill the bad guy." Prime Suspect has that, but also seems to at least try (flipping female stereotype, politics of copland, the victims aren't as important as the job itself).

Holy. [expletive].

Breaking Bad just took it to another level. Bryan Cranston is a brilliant actor. Amazing.

The last ten minutes were incredible, especially the closing shot.

I hate Dish. It's like $15 a month for AMC. I didn't catch this last night and my...other means weren't immediately available. Gotta wait till tonight.

Anyone watching Alphas on SyFy? I'm digging it - good concept, great casting, and good enough stories.

The acting is so good it totally overwhelms some of the thinner plots. There's a [expletive] load that just doesn't make sense, but I dont really care.
it's the highest rated show on FX for a reason (and FX has/had some great shows...the shield, rescue me, justified, nip/tuck)

i think it's great BECAUSE it's over the top....i don't want to watch a realistic TV show....that'd be like watching....life. prob most days of a real outlaw motorcycle club involves them sitting around getting drunk and watching tv....same [expletive] as everyone else.
Oh, there's real motorcycle clubs like this. Just a few months ago, there was a huge multi city motorcycle club sting. It was big in St. Louis, Philadelphia, and I think Oakland(near SOA's fictional charming). Check it out. I remember reading it and thinking, wow, this is real life SOA. The charges included murder, racketeering, drugs, assault, and guns. I want to say like 50 people were busted.
But even then those bikers aren't having shoot outs on a daily basis.
This is really off topic, but I just read about a Hells Angels related shooting on a casino floor in Reno where I attended a professional conference a little over a year ago. The extremely conservative conference was held in an odd location due to a recession budget. The place was hilarious. Conveniently located in classy Reno, NV in a small island between an interstate and a rail yard, the decor hadn't been updated since the 60s, nor had the smell. In three days, there we had two run ins with prostitutes. In the first, my colleague was was down at the Starbucks inside near the front desk checking e-mail at 6am when he got propositioned. Later, I nearly got knocked down by a "couple" racing up to their room. I was kinda drunk and blurted out a complaint too loudly. For a second, it looked like I might get beat up except for the fact that the clock was running on their date.

The president of the San Jose chapter of the Hells Angels motorcycle club -- and a San Jose city employee -- was killed Friday night during a shootout inside a Nevada casino with a rival outlaw motorcycle club, officials said.

Jeffrey "Jethro" Pettigrew, 51, worked for 20 years as a heavy equipment operator for the city's Department of Transportation. But San Jose police know him as the charismatic local leader of the notorious biker club that law enforcement has long identified as one of the most powerful and influential criminal motorcycle gangs.

Local police and other gang experts predicted that Friday's homicide, which sources said has been attributed to members of the Vagos Motorcycle Club, could presage further bloodshed.

"In the outlaw motorcycle gang culture, Jeff Pettigrew was a local icon in San Jose, a very well-respected member within the ranks of the Hells Angels," said San Jose police Sgt. Larry Day, who has investigated biker clubs.

"This incident could definitely result in retaliation against the Vagos, and a full-blown war that may result in deadly violence in San Jose and throughout California."

The shootout on the casino floor of John Ascuaga's Nugget Casino Resort in Sparks recalls the infamous motorcycle club gunfight at Harrah's Casino & Hotel in Laughlin, Nev., in 2002. In that showdown, members of the Hells Angels and the Mongols motorcycle clubs fought each other, leaving one Mongol and two Hells Angels dead on the casino floor.

Is anybody else going to submit themselves to the hype and ultimately disappointment by watching Terra Nova tonight? I'm sure I will

I'll be watching. It has good reviews.
It's supposed to be very Spielbergy. So, probably more quality entertainment for the entire family then deep and cool on the Sci Fi spectrum.
