I was talking to broncos? I think we're in agreement here?

Do you understand how drafts work? One team drafting him means that 31 other teams are going to pass up on him, no matter where in the draft he goes. Your argument doesn't support or deny your claims, it just makes no sense.

What?? You do understand that 31 GM's passed on him for 6 rounds, right?

Defensive players of the year NEVER drop into the 7th round, no matter what conference they played in. When you're the defensive player of the year in the best conference in America, there is no excuse for 31 GM's to pass on you for 6 rounds. It just doesn't happen.

It happened this year, though. You don't think those GM's were worried about the distractions that Sam would bring? Why else wouldn't they draft him for 6 rounds?

but the distraction angle just doesn't work. players are drafted, signed, with all sorts of baggage (distractions).

whoever mentioned riley cooper made a great point.

Sam was always slated to be drafted around where he was drafted. We don't even know if he's going to make the team.

Your logic is astounding. Are the rams homophobic too because they passed on him for 6 rounds?

What other players had enough side issues to create a 15 page thread here, before Dungy said a word?

By the way, you using the word "baggage" is far worse than what Dungy said about Sams, in my opinion.

There are hundreds of players on draft boards that are on the fence with on-field potential, and the off-field factors, whatever they may be, are enough to choose not to draft them. This all goes without saying, draft boards don't have to explain what the off-field factors were.

I wouldn't doubt some NFL teams shared Dungy's view that Sam's homosexuality is a problem or the media circus around outweighs his potential - but none of them that I recall were dumb enough to single Sam out for elaboration as to why they didn't draft him, other than they viewed he wasn't good enough to draft.

What's bizarre is Dungy had no reason whatsoever to make the statement. Yeah, he's a talking head and eventually had to talk about Sam, but when pressed he could have just said " I wouldn't have drafted Sam because I don't think he's good enough player to draft." There was no point to his elaboration other than to express his homophobic views.

Likewise, I think NBC should fire Dungy, because he's just not that good/interesting enough an analyst to outweigh his non-analyst homophobic baggage.
