First time.

Mizzou and Ohio State the only two schools to get the number one recruit in both football and basketball at least once in the past decade.

A 10 seed is ridiculously low, and then throw in that they've got to face pretty easily the best #2 seed in the tournament in the 2nd round. I really wanted to pick them to go farther, but sheeeeit. Tough to pick against Kentucky. Middle Tennessee State has a pretty good path to get to the sweet 16. SMU/Baylor/Duke...it's tough to pick between those 3 to get the elite 8.
I wouldn't say Kentucky is easily the best #2. I'm not even sure they're 2nd best.
Pretty easily the best 2 seed I'd say.

Terrible seed for wsu

Snyder's best was probably Travon Bryant who was a top 20ish mcdonalds all american. CMA signed Tony Mitchell who was borderline top 10 but he didn't qualify. Phil pressey in that same class was top 50ish.

ETA-just looked on Rivals and Linas Kleiza was a five star ranked 17th and Thomas Gardner in the same class was 35th. I didn't realize either of those guys was that highly regarded coming in.

I remember God save the Quin perennially having top 10 recruiting classes back around 2000, and then perennially being terrible by the bragging rights game.

I have no delusions for what this means for Mizzou hoops. It's obviously huge for so many reasons, but it's still a roster that has so much work to do. Cuonzo can probably get them up to about 14 or 15 wins just through better coaching of what's in stock. Porter and perhaps even another solid recruit can get them 18/19. It still requires things going right. If everything goes just right, maybe they can get a seven through 10 seed next year. More likely, they will be an NIT team. Which sounds pessimistic, but it's so much better than where they've been. That's a huge step for a single year. I'm just thrilled to care again.

I bet Vegas made a killing on KU-Oregon. Public money had to be 85-15 on KU -6.5.
