i've seen all but the bottom two.. that's a pretty solid list "the best years of our lives"
is a pretty amazing movie..

I don't think I've ever even heard of it before. I'll have to check it out, though more on your recommendation than Stanley Fish's. It's a pet peeve of mine when old people always fill up lists with old movies. The only movies he's got on there made in the last 30 years are Raging Bull and Groundhog Day.

"the best years of our lives" is great.. but in an old fashioned, warm and fuzzy, frank capra
kinda way.. it's super long too.. but it's worth watching for one man alone.. Harold Russell,
a real life vet from WWII that had lost both hands and his role in the movie is one of
the best in movie history.. if you ask me..

There's a few great ones in there (Vertigo, Sunset Boulevard, Double Indemnity, Red River) but a few that are mind boggling. Any list that includes dir. Harold Ramis and not dir. Buster Keaton, dir. Charles Chaplin, dir. Preston Sturgis, dir. Orson Welles, etc...............

Not Kazan's best film, IMO, either.

Its an interesting list. "Groundhogs Day" and "Meet me in St. Louis" ?. A list limited to 10 is nearly impossible. I haven't seen all those movies but you could quibble with each and every one of them. for example - I'd take Rear Window over Vertigo from Hitchcocks. No big box office flicks on this list.

This movie was interesting. They director/producer/writers could have gone into more detail though and interviewed some of the Bush family instead of getting their information from totally secondary sources. For the most part though, this film is decent. It portrays Bush as a human being looking to make something of himself, and having deep convictions which became what we know as the Bush Doctrine. It really doesn't lean Republican or Democrat, but the general conclusion is President Bush as a decent/good person, but just wasn't the smartest person for the job.

burn after reading - i had a lot of people tell me that it was just "okay".. but
i freaking loved it.. the coen's at their best if you ask me.. not saying it was
their best movie.. but it was a great addition to their catalog.. loved the ending..

If anyone likes Action movie, you should watch this. This movie is inspired from English movie Memento

Just watch Traitor w/ Don Cheadle. Wasn't expecting much for some reason and I ended up REALLY liking the movie. It was very good.

I watched Doomsday last night.

It's a shame, the post-apocalypse theme and the whole virus/quarantine story had a tone of potential. Develop a few good characters and a plot and put the action scenes and effects that would go with such a story and you'd have at worst a pretty entertaining movie. But sheesh, they tried way too hard with this movie to fit everything in and pay homages to like 20,000 movies that by the time the movie was over it seemed totally incomplete and lacking a basic plot.

A bad movie that's made worse by the fact that it had so much more potential.
