I'm sure we'll get a chance to sign him when he becomes a FA... and for a lot less than Pujols.

Well it just has to be as good as the drab chain-food restaurants they have out there.

I'd say around 3, given that contract and his rate of decline.

Yeah, a bunch of the sting is removed because of this year's title.

Someone else pointed it out, but if we only got one world series out of a talent like that while he was being underpaid for so long, I would have been really really disappointed. But two titles is a real nice accomplishment for his time spent here, we just couldn't afford him anymore.

It sucks, but I certainly don't hold it against Albert. I'm real glad we didn't desperately throw stupid money at him to match.

I am not sure how I am going to handle the Angels getting all that attention come year 2 when AP passes 500 and year 5 when he passes 600 and year 15 when he goes into the HOF as an Angel

One thing is guaranteed. Albert will play his entire career for teams with religious team names. Angels obviously trump Cardinals in that regard.

I'm very sad that my son will not get to grow up watching the greatest Cardinal I've ever seen.

That's all I have to say about it.

The Cards are my team, I would have taken the 10 yr $225 mil deal to stay in St. Louis, because I am loyal to the club, he took more money, so I am mad at him.
Unless you are proud of the fact that you've worked harder and are better than everyone else at your craft, and you feel that even though you've been loyal, you're underappreciated and the team isn't loyal to you.

In all seriousness: I do feel really bad for you and for every Cardinal fan who either already has kids or recent little ones. That sucks. :(

I was hopeful he would stay and take the hometown discount. I'm happy he's getting payed according to the market and his ability, but sad he's not going to end his career as a Cardinal. I had hoped he would break the silliness of free agency whoring, but I guess it's hard to say no to an extra $30-50 million (depending on how you look at the contract). The Cards can't afford that, I'm just glad it wasn't the Yanks, Red Sox, or Cubs that could. Had he gone to one of those teams he'd be dead to me.

If you're going to pay a player that kind of money long term, Albert is the man for it - there aren't many players that would be worth it. So long and thanks for all the fish, Albert.
