I see what I see what I see what I see. And what I see is that Lambert is no good. He had bad control in college and it has translated to bad control in the minors. I'm glad you're still pulling for him -- as am I obviously -- but I'm pretty sure you're the only one who is still holding out hope for him to develop into anything.

I doubt that because I am not the one that just promoted him to AAA. If they thought he had no chance they would go ahead and release him as they did Billy Beacher. If they released him today he would be pitching in somebody else's system tomorrow.GatewaySnayke wrote:I see what I see what I see what I see. And what I see is that Lambert is no good. So since Reyes has now gone last year and this year not living up to his ptoential he will never be a decent major league starter right longhorn?longhornbaseball wrote:Its not that he has NO chance, its that his chances are so remote there's no reason to think he will become a major league baseball player. No one's saying he should be released but that its highly unlikely he'll become anything more than a wasted first round pick.

Reyes has nothing to do with Lambert. The two situations are in no way similar. Either you know this and you're trying to be a smart ass or you don't know this and really need to examine the two pitchers more closely.cardfaninfla wrote:So since Reyes has now gone last year and this year not living up to his ptoential he will never be a decent major league starter right longhorn?
What has Lambert shown that makes you believe he can be a major league baseball player?

Reyes was good to great in the minors. I don't think Lambert has ever been as much as good yet.cardfaninfla wrote:So since Reyes has now gone last year and this year not living up to his ptoential he will never be a decent major league starter right longhorn?longhornbaseball wrote:Its not that he has NO chance, its that his chances are so remote there's no reason to think he will become a major league baseball player. Lambert was pretty successful in college, he has just a little more time to prove himself in minor league than Reyes has had in the Majors.stretch wrote:Reyes was good to great in the minors. I certainly am not ready to say either is done. I just know that Reyes is Longhorns boy and if he doesn't make it the blame will be on Duncan or LaRussa and not Reyes. While he was never on board with teh Lambert pick, I was thrilled either, he gets the no way he will make ever make tag.

I don't think Reyes has really done anything yet to create any doubt about whether he will be successful. He still hasn't made a full season worth of starts at the ML level. I think even Greg Maddux was 6-14 his rookie year. If he figures out how to avoid the bad inning, or even to limit those to 2 runs instead of 4, he will be just fine.
We are still waiting on Lambert. But like you said, he still has a little time. And if he is converting to a reliever, they would have to give him a longer look in that role, I would think.

Personally, I thought Lambert was finally putting everything together this year. His average game score across his 5 starts was 51.6 – slightly above average. For reference, Jaime Garcia is at 57, Mitch Boggs is at 41, Eric Haberer is at 42.67, and Cory Rauschenberger is at 34.2.
Nevertheless, Kary Booher reported in a recent article that the starting pitching portion of Lambert’s career is over. Apparently both he and the team felt the workload of starting pitching was taking to much of a toll on his arm. I for one wish him luck in Memphis.
