What one thing would you change about MLB?

I would get rid of the D-Rays, Marlins, Twins, Royals, and Nats. And other teams would get consideration as well.

I think there is at least one play a game that ends up in a questionable call. Was the home run fair/over the yellow line? Did that double down the line catch the chalk? Did the runner leave early tagging up? Tag plays, plays at first, possibly fan interference, etc. Umpires are human. I would be all for IR as long as it was very limited in use. Why not take advantage of technology to get the call right?

I say so what. Let the imperfections stay, let the human element still play a part. Using instant replay like you are suggesting would take a slow paced game that has slowed down even more over the past 20 years, and slowing it down to unbearable levels.

I was about to point out that there was no call for a salary cap, and there it is in the previous two posts!

The minimum is an absolute must. But, I'd argue with a credits like clause. If teams want to rebuild, like the Marlins are doing, they're obviously below the cap. They can get an exception, and would be required to be over the minimum to make up the shortage.

Jim,
I think the reason this has gotten so out of hand is because of the ban on scalping. If it were legalized, the costs would go down because there would be so many more tickets available.

They wash in the regular season and the games are long enough, you're absolutely right. I like the idea in the postseason though.

As painful as the Denkinger play was in '85, I'm not so sure I as a fan and baseball as a sport didn't get more benefit out of recalling the play and retelling the story than if replay was there to get it right. Bad calls always have, and always should be a small part of the game in my opinion.

Or perhaps those teams could be consolidated into one that plays in Vegas.

I think that the success of the wildcard has a lot to do with people wanting a change.
