I'd love an impact bat for the OF, but I'd be just as happy to see Stavinoha starting in RF in August than Encranacion.

Is Stavinoha our greatest hope for a ML mid-season OF replacement from the minors?

I realize there's Ankiel, J-Rod, and to a lesser extent Ludwick and Bozied. Can Stavinoha be this years Duncan?

Juan is more important to this than people give him credit for.

At least we know he'll give us some decent production. He always has solid defense. I'd much rather have Juan out there than J-Rod, Taguchi, or even Wilson. But I think while he's out, Wilson should start.

He OPSed .800 at Springfield last season, but his walk percentage is only six percent.

I don't think you can gather anything by looking at his overall stats from last year.

That was true before Encarnacion got hurt.
On a different tangent, I haven't liked Juan E as a Cardinal at all...
I got a glimpse of Kennedy last night and I really liked what I saw....some speed as well..Hope the Cards go out & get a good OF'er to go with Jimmy & Duncan.
I'd love to see us replace Encarnacion but with both Reyes and Wainwright in the rotation now we really have nothing to trade.
Yeah...and he's going to have to come back and play for a while before any team would accept him in a trade. Maybe something at the deadline, if there's a really good offer out there, but I don't see it happening this year, short of a salary dump from another club.
Not only that, but if we have to go with an outfield of Duncan/Taguchi, Edmonds, and Wilson for the bulk of the 1st half we might not even be in contention at the trade deadline. We'd need several things to go just right for that outfield to not be below average.
