Correctamundo. There's nothing that I've seen yet that closely resembles him being ML ready.

I'm not sure about whether or not he's ready yet. But I say if he has a few good starts in Memphis, and Carpenter ends up being out for awhile, I think I'd rather have an inexperienced pitcher with tons of potential over an experienced AAAA pitcher. Maybe that's just me though.

I don't keep up with the minors and was wondering what the down-lo is on this guy. Impressions, stats, anything to give me a clue as to what to expect is welcome.

to have a career 6.50 era and go through 5 or 6 teams in like 7-8 years is a little bit more of a question mark for me than even Wells and Looper are...

maybe Duncan can work with him though and make him something respectable.. or maybe he will just be another Sidney Ponson who goes away and latches on with another team

Ooops... I didn't see this thread when I posted... Doh!

Thompson would be a much better choice, but I think Tony's afraid to mess with an already decimated (yes, decimated) bullpen any more than he has.

I actually think that Narveson would be the best choice, but they didn't pitch him in ST so he could pass waivers and he's not on the 40 man roster.

A couple things to look forward to:

1. Josh Kinney will get transfered to the 60 man DL.
2. Chris Narveson will brought back onto the 40 man roster.
3. Keisler will be the guy, but if he struggles at all we'll see a semi-rotatoin in that spot with Keisler and Narvey.
4. If Carp is on the DL until mid-May and Hawk is pitching well in Memphis, Blake will get a call-up for an "experience" start, much like Reyes' start against Milwaukee in '05.

That's my take on the whole deal. I would be pretty surprised if Kinney wasn't moved to the 60 man DL very soon.

Franklin has found his niche, for the time being at least, as our 8th-inning guy. He's doing very well there, giving us a big boost when Thompson wasn't able to get the job done.

As for Hawksworth - before tonight, he hadn't pitched since March 30 (when he pitched against us) and, of course, had only 13 games experience above the A-ball level; tonight in Memphis was to be his AAA debut.

And he's not doing well - a two-run homer allowed in the first, single runs in the second and third. It's in the 4th now and Hawk is losing, 4-1.

If neither of your set up guys has great stuff, I prefer the guy with experience (and of course, the guy who's getting it done).
