imagine the carpenter stinging feeling and let it linger for 4 years.
now double it, because wood has been the same way.
I think we know exactly how it feels, since we, too, had a young stud on top of the world with unlimited potential who fell victim to a very unfortunate series of events.
His name, of course, is "Ankiel."
Now granted, that is only one dosage but...
Going further back we could mention Joe Magrane, and who can forget Danny Cox diving off a pier.

Yeah. Who said that again?

John Fulgham, too.

I don't even like to think about them anymore.
When I imagine this team with Prior and Wood in the rotation instead of Marquis and Miller, I immediately want to break things.
For those two guys alone, I have an everlasting hate of Dusty Baker that will always surpass any previous or future ex-coach of one of my teams.

I was just 6 when he came through and really can't remember much about him. What was his story?

just remember the three names that were the rotation in 96 through 2000 in Matt Morris, Rick Ankiel, and Alan Benes.. they were supposed to be the three big time guys and the only one that had a respectable career has been Morris..
so yeah we know a bit about what the Cub fans are going through

No, but having him replace Miller would be great for them.

You know, years from now, I'm going to look back on this topic fondly.
Prior and Wood's journey through injury has brought us all together in a special way. Group Cubenfruede!
Or Cub Agonistes for TT et al. (sorry fellas!)
p.s. I do feel bad, sort of, for Prior and Wood though. Those guys gotta be at wit's end.
