It is time to ask the question: if they are far back at the deadline, do they start selling off people like Looper, Eckstein, Encarnacion, Isringhausen...

I thought Reyes pitched well today. He hasn't been great this year, but I don't think he's as bad as his record - he's been very unlucky so far.

His FIP at the start of this game was 4.39, compared to his 5.73 ERA. And he was let down again by his defense today. I think it's too early for people to start jumping off the Reyes bandwagon.

Is that a still shot of Steve McQueen omaha? Or, is there motion.

My computer/server combination at work won't allow for streaming video.

Cool either way!

Perhaps I should have been more clear. I was trying to make that point that Reyes has pitched well--and has been losing because he's been unlucky. Both the D and the O have let him down, in every start he's had this year.

Oh, I know. I wasn't implying that you were jumping off the bandwagon or anything. I just noticed you posted his record and runs, and thought it was a perfect opportunity to point out to other board members the other side of his story.

That's always the weird thing about quoting someone - sometimes I simply use it as a jump off point for another tangential thought, not necessarily as a direct response to what the person said. Sorry for any confusion.

Well, I guess the silver lining is that season tickets will be easier to come by next year.

Other food for thought: Since 2001, the defending World Champs have missed the next postseason 3 ot of 5 times. The two teams that reached the postseason were promptly swept in the first round. The three teams that missed all finished 3rd in their division the next year.

I could take it if the Cards missed the postseason, we as fans have been spoiled. All I ask is that they be competitive and in contention, and make the summer fun. The way they have been playing sucks and is really unbecoming of a World Champion.
