That's probably a fair comparison isn't it? If anything Holliday is slightly more valuable that Teixeira.

I think Tex is across the board better than Holliday is. Only thing Matt has is a higher batting average, and maybe some more value on defense since he's in the OF.

This is true.

There was a time where standing Os and showing a player he's wanted may have helped, but that time has long since passed.

According to Ryan Franklin in this interview, Holliday will be a Cardinal if he controls Boras. Its all speculation but I'll believe a teammate over some writer.

I bet the Yomiuri Giants would pay him a [expletive] ton.

Holliday has a career OPS+ of 133. Teixeira's is 136. FWIW, Holliday has been worth 19.7 WAR over the last 3 seasons, while Teixeira has been worth 15.7. Of course, the only way Holliday gets Teixeira money is if the Yankees truly do want Holliday.

Shouldn't the Mets focus on pitching?

Boston, if Bay leaves, and San Francisco would seem to be likely suitors.

If Holliday leaves, I won't think any differently of him than I do now, which is no different than what I thought of him before the postseason began.

I'm cautiously optimistic that Holliday will re-sign with St. Louis.

Is that OPS+ altitude adjusted?

Well, it's park-adjusted. And Holliday's 2009 OPS+ was identical to his 2006-2008 OPS+. In spite of his slow start in a new league (his OPS+ had gotten up to 125 prior to the trade).

Also, Teix dominates in counting stats, which I think do matter in salary compensation for most ball clubs, and is a switch hitter. They have identical slugging %s, so yeah, it's pretty close. But if I had to choose between Teix and Holliday, i'd take the 1b.

The Mets' revamped rotation of Santana, Maine, Jason Marquis, Pinata, and WTF will keep their outfielders quite busy 4 games out of 5.
