That was a fun game to watch. He's unorthodox,
but he gets the job done.
Except against teams that are good at football.

A few teams have lost to the Patriots. And even with 3 fumbles, Denver put more points on the board against New England than the Cowboys, Jets (twice), Chargers, Raiders and Eagles........ but I guess all of those teams are bad at football, too.

Oh, and he also won 2 national championships in college. But those teams probably weren't very good at football, either.
1. It doesn't matter who the Patriots have beaten when the question is who the Broncos have beaten. Good teams are supposed to beat bad teams...the key difference is that good teams beat other good teams too. As Third Man already chronologued, the Tebow-led Broncos have beaten Miami (5-9, even worse when they played), an Oakland team that totally hit the skids with an awful backup QB, an awful Chiefs team, the mediocre Jets, the mediocre Chargers, the awful Vikings, and the rudderless QB-less Bears. It's not easy to win against all of those losing teams, but it's also not a sign of greatness. None of these teams are good. The biggest win was by 7 points; many were won on last second field goals.

The two teams that the Tebows have lost to - by a combined total of 53 points - are interesting in that they are the only two teams that they have played who currently have a winning record.

2. Tebow was great in college, surrounded by great teams. JaMarcus Russel was great in college too. So was Matt Leinart. So was Eric Crouch, and Jason White, and Troy Smith...

Tebow has a number of quality attributes. He seems to be a great leader, and he's tough to stop in the running game. His arm will never be strong enough for the different NFL game. He throws well enough to trust to make about 10 measured passes a game. When you're playing the Detroits and New Englands of the NFL and have to put points on the board to keep pace, that won't ever cut it. His ceiling is Vince Young - far from the worst QB in the NFL, but far from a franchise QB.

Even if he's not a great QB, it turned out to be a good draft choice considering what he's done for the Broncos this year publicity-wise.

Someone can suck at QB but still win. Look at Jeff Hostetler or Kerry Collins. Tebow is a worse passing QB than those guys (although a much better rusher).

Denver isn't a great team. But they are better with Tebow than they were with Orton. By that measure, he has made them a better team. Has he made them a "great" team? No, but he's only got 12 starts under his belt in his career. Cam Newton hasn't made Carolina a great team, either. That doesn't mean he sucks.

Arm strength isn't even an issue with Tebow....... never has been. I'm not sure where you got that from. In fact, anyone who has watched him this year will tell you that his downfield passes have been far more accurate than the short & medium-range passes.

Russell, Leinert, Couch, etc. didn't do what Tebow did in college, and reportedly didn't have the work ethic that Tebow has.

Tebow is a good/great football player. He's just not a very accurate passer. The only question is whether he'll be able to improve on that. Keep in mind that he's a young, inexperienced NFL quarterback who had virtually no off-season preparation because of the lockout.

Yep. Ryan Theriot was our starting SS and often 2B, and he gets a WS ring.

Also, I'm done here. Tebow does nothing but win football games and is a great quarterback.

Sure they can. Collins, Hostetler, etc. don't have Tebow's resume. Tebow has attributes that those guys didn't.

Maybe Tebow won't make it, but can we give it a rest with the "he sucks, he's a joke, etc. etc. etc." stuff? Let's wait and see. Really, he's only struggled with short & mid-range accuracy. That doesn't mean that he can't be a good quarterback eventually. Give it some time.

That's about where I'm at. No, he's not a great QB. He probably will never be a great traditional QB. But the guy is already proving a lot of people wrong just by starting in the NFL. Now that he's winning, it's even more amazing. It's amazing because he had so many doubters, and that's why everyone is so wrapped up in it. He's not supposed to be doing a decent job. His decision making is a problem, which leads to bad throws. I think with a little more time, he'll get used to running this style of offense and know exactly when to hit the open receiver or when to protect the ball and book it.

Vince Young was a strong running QB with questionable throwing mechanics who won a National Title in college and was drafted in the 1st round among questions of his ability to QB an NFL team and then went on to rattle off a bunch of wins when he first started in the NFL.

Now he's Michael Vick's backup. Just sayin.

He also had some dramatic (and famous) 4th quarter comebacks and game winning drives in his rookie season.
